I live in a small town in the state of Connecticut, which is in the northeastern part of the United States. Our house is  bright and sun-filled, with deep woods behind us that are home to native wildlife from deer to fishers to coyotes. Wild turkeys plod through our yard; hawks fly overhead and an occasional skunk or fox goes past the deck. Birds flock to our birdfeeders, summer and winter.

I'm very happily married to my childhood sweetheart. I was 15, he was 18 when we met! We have a wonderful son and a marvelous daughter-in-law and the world's brightest, most adorable 6 year old granddaughter and the world's brightest, most adorable 4 year old grandson.   (Do you see a pattern here???) Our extended family includes their two wonderful dogs and their three beautiful cats.

I love to travel and see new places, take long drives in our part of New England, and I'm crazy about animals and support all kinds of wilderness and animal welfare organizations. I like to cook when I have time but when I'm writing a book, the Thai restaurant, Chinese take-out place and pizza delivery guy are my lifelines! My favorite days are either sunny ones when I can sit on our deck and watch the birds at our feeders or cloudy ones when I can curl up by the fireplace with a book.

Of course, I can only do those things in my spare time and there isn't much of that. I'm a full-time writer and my books are published in more than twenty languages all around the world. I've been a writer, one way or another, all my life. Before I could read, I made up poems and my mom wrote them down for me. In elementary school, my teachers almost always let me write poems or stories instead of requiring me to do art projects. I graduated high school with Honors in English, graduated college with Highest Departmental Honors in English and also graduated cum laude. And always, always, I dreamed of some day telling stories lots of people would want to hear. So, you see, dreams do come true!

I've won several awards, among them:

FOUR time RITA finalist ( Romance Writers of America)
CAREER ACHIEVEMENT AWARD: Series Storyteller of the Year, Romantic Times Magazine
EIGHT
time winner, Best Presents of the Year, Romantic Times
Multiple appearances on Waldenbooks Romance Bestsellers List
